Meet the experienced and friendly doctors and staff who make Family Vision Center P.A. the leading provider of vision care products and services in Wellington.

Lori Mazza, O.D.

Dr. Mazza graduated valedictorian from Nova Southeastern University in 1995. Her education included a 4 month rotation at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, FL where she was trained under some of the top ophthalmologists in the country. She then completed a one year residency in ocular disease at Aran and Holbrook Eye Associates, in Miami, FL. She is an active member of the Palm Beach County Optometric Association, the Florida Optometric Association, and the American Optometric Association. Dr.Mazza reached one of her many goals this year, opening her own practice in a stand alone building in Wellington, FL on October 2014.

Kara Hayes, O.D.

Dr. Hayes graduated from Nova Southeastern University with Honors for outstanding leadership and service. She was born and raised in Wellington, Fl and joined our practice in 2018. She is on the Health and Wellness Committee of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce and is a very active member of the Florida Optometric Association. Dr. Hayes also sits on the Board for the Palm Beach County Optometric Association.  In her free time, she likes to spend time with her husband, do Pilates, watch movies, and hangout by the pool.

Melissa – Insurance Verification Specialist

Melissa has been with our team since 2004. Currently, she is our insurance verification specialist. Melissa works hard to obtain accurate information from your insurance company about your benefits. Among her many talents Melissa enjoys making handmade crafts such as little girls hair bows, headbands, and custom t-shirts. Like a true Disney fan, Melissa loves spending time at the happiest place on earth with her husband and 4 beautiful daughters.

Greg – Licensed Optician , A.B.O / N.C.L.E

Greg is originally from Brooklyn, NY and has lived in West Palm Beach since the early 70’s. He has been practicing as a Florida licensed optician in Palm Beach County for the past 30 years. He has a A.S. degree in Vision Care Technology. Greg is board certified by the American Board of Opticianary and the National Contact Lens Examiners. He has been a member of our team since the fall of 2014. Greg being of Italian decent enjoys good food and good wine. He also enjoys boating, hunting, and biking.

Dreilys – Licensed Optician, A.B.O/ N.C.L.E

Dreilys joined our team January of 2018. She graduated from the Optionary Program at Miami Dade Medical Campus in 2009. Dreilys is very knowledgeable and experienced in all aspects of the Optical field. She has a contagious bubbly personality and always likes to stay busy helping all our patients. She enjoys spending her leisure time with friends and family , shopping and going to the beach.

Meagan – Optometric Technician

Meagan joined our team January 2017. She has a sweet and quirky personality that we all love! Meagan is an Optometric Tech always willing to help patients in any kind of way she can and plans to become a Certified Technician in the near future. Meagan has a passion for everything in the arts from music to even photography. Most recently, she has volunteered in Disaster Relief programs that have helped those affected in the Caribbean by the devastating hurricanes since 2016. We are so happy to have Meagan as a member of our team!

Nicole – Optometric Technician

Photo NicoleOn May 2018 we were so thankful to have Nicole join us at Family Vision Center. She is very thoughtful with each one of our patients. Always sincerely concerned and willing to lend a helping hand whenever needed. Nicole was born and raised in Florida, graduated from the University of Florida in 2006. She also volunteers regularly with a local nonprofit animal rescue center, assisting in the care and adoption of foster pets. In her spare time Nicole loves to travel and learn about as many different cultures as she can. We are so happy to have her as one of our technicians.

Jennifer – Optometric Technician

Say hello to Jen, the friendly face you’ll meet at the Front Desk. She joined our team in October of 2017. Jen will help you with your patient care needs, such as, scheduling appointments and ordering contact lenses. She’s a coffee aficionado and loves music and dance , especially salsa. Someday she hopes to become a sign language interpreter.

Janelly – Optometric Technician

Meet our team member Janelly as pf August of 2019! She has been working as one of our very own technicians and is entering the world of glasses. Janelly has her Associates degree in education and hopes to be getting her CPO certification for Paraoptometric tech. She has a love for animals especially cats and dogs, always volunteering at the Peggy Adams shelter in her free time. Janelly always making your experience with FVC a fun one!

Christie – Optometric Technician

Christie has been with Family Vision Center since August 2019. She works as an Optometric Technician helping to complete the necessary pre-testing for our patients. Christie graduated in 2019 from USF with a Bachelor’s in Science.  She loves working in healthcare (worked as a CNA for 2 years) and recently volunteered at Florida Hospital-Advent health. She has a passion for the arts such as painting and photography, and spending time with her family. Christie even speaks fluent Creole and some French helping a multitude of our patients.

Brianna – Optometric Technician

Photo of BriannaBrianna joined the practice September 2020. She was born and raised in Indiana, but moved down here to be closer to family after finishing her undergraduate degree.She completed a Bachelor’s degree in Biology with a concentration in genetics as well as Associate’s degree in chemistry at Purdue University May 2020. Brianna has been in the field of optometry since 2016 working as a frame stylist, technician, and scribe.In her free time, she loves to spend time outdoors especially with her family and boyfriend loves going to the beach, kayaking, or paddle boarding

Joseph – Optometric Technician

Photo of JoeyJoseph has been a part of the family since July of 2020. He does his best to give all patients he meets a welcoming and pleasant experience. He is currently studying Biological Sciences and plans on a career in the medical field as either an Ophthalmologist or Orthodontist. He is not only studying Biology, as he also enjoys learning how to play the guitar.

Stephen Franzblau, O.D., F.C.O.V.D.

July 1934-December 2020
Dr. Franzblau graduated from Southern College of Optometry in 1966 and was a member of the American Optometric Association, a past president of the Palm Beach County Optometric Society, and a clinical associate and staff lecturer for the Optometric Extension Program. He was also a Fellow in the College of Optometrists in Vision Development ( FCOVD). This means he had education over and above the standard O.D degree. He passed rigorous and comprehensive written and oral exams and was Board Certified in Vision Development & Vision Therapy. He also was a member of the Sports Vision Section and Contact Lens Section of the A.O.A. and served as a visual consultant to education. Dr. Franzblau is the author of many articles on children’s vision, amblyopia (lazy eye) and strabismus (crossed eye). He has lectured throughout the United States on these subjects and the numerous instruments he has designed which are used in the diagnosis and treatment of special visual problems. In 1973, Dr. Franzblau was awarded the American Optometric Foundation Award for the best lecture and scientific paper presented at the Southeastern Educational Congress. Dr. Franzblau changed many lives and we were blessed to have worked with him.
